Belichick and Coughlin among 2026 Hall coaching semifinalists

Bill Belichick and Tom Coughlin, opponents in two Super Bowls between the Patriots and Giants, will square off again as Pro Football Hall of Fame coaching semifinalists for the Class of 2026. They join Mike Holmgren, Chuck Knox, Buddy Parker, Dan Reeves, Marty Schottenheimer, George Seifert, and Mike Shanahan among nine candidates. Coughlin’s teams won both of those Super Bowls, while Belichick won six others during his Patriots tenure. Holmgren reached the finalist stage last year but missed election. The coach blue-ribbon committee meets November 18 to select this year’s finalist for consideration by the Hall’s selection committee.
