'Misery Map' Shows US Airport Flight Delays and Cancellations

The government shutdown is rippling through US skies, with unpaid air traffic controllers calling out and triggering delays. FlightAware’s Misery Map shows disruptions at 17 major airports since October 30; since Friday, more than 9,000 flights were delayed and over 650 canceled, including 2,800 delays and nearly 160 cancellations by 4 p.m. ET Saturday. Dallas-Fort Worth, Los Angeles, and Denver led Saturday’s misery index. The FAA cited 14 staffing advisories and urged an end to the shutdown, while the controllers union rejected coordinated activity that harms NAS capacity and pressed lawmakers for a short-term spending bill.
