In New York’s Village Halloween Parade, the usual skeletons and superheroes mixed with edible imaginings as this year’s theme It’s a Potluck turned Sixth Avenue into a shared table. Organizers shifted from an early feast concept amid awareness of famine in Gaza and a looming SNAP expiration, inviting City Harvest as grand marshal. Artists Alex Kahn and Sophia Michahelles built large doors that opened into food filled tables. Costumed revelers included a fruit salad troupe from Alaska, fried chicken board member Simon Kim, a walking cake, and a school lunch worker channeling Ratatouille.
