Hamas expands search as truce strains

Hamas said it has expanded searches for the bodies of the remaining 13 Israeli hostages in Gaza, a day after Egypt sent experts and heavy equipment to help. Under a U.S.-brokered ceasefire that began Oct. 10, Hamas is to return all remains while Israel returns 15 Palestinian bodies for each one; Hamas has delivered 15 so far as Israel has handed over 195. Israel’s strike on Nuseirat drew Hamas’ accusation of a truce violation, while Israel said it targeted Islamic Jihad militants. U.S. officials visited a new coordination center; about 200 U.S. troops work there, not inside Gaza.
