Flights bound for Los Angeles International Airport were halted Sunday morning after a staffing shortage at a Southern California air traffic facility, the FAA said. A temporary ground stop began at 11:42 a.m. Eastern, producing average delays of an hour and 40 minutes; the agency aimed to lift it by 1:30 p.m. but warned LAX traffic could remain restricted. U.S. Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy said controllers working without pay amid the shutdown are calling in sick, noting "22 staffing triggers."
