A U.S. magistrate judge has ordered former President Donald Trump to answer questions under oath in his defamation lawsuit against the BBC by 11 December. Trump is suing the broadcaster over a Panorama episode that edited together two different sections of a speech he gave before the January 6, 2021, Capitol riot. Trump cancelled a deposition on 16 October, citing national campaign duties. The BBC apologized for the error and argued the program did not meet defamation criteria. Trump’s lawyers say he could appear between 11 and 22 January next year.

John Anderson, the Grammy‑nominated country singer known for “Swingin’” and “Seminole Wind,” died this week at age 71. No cause of death was disclosed. Anderson’s family posted a tribute on his verified Facebook and Instagram accounts, describing him as a beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend. The 71‑year‑old artist had a career spanning nearly 50 years, released more than 20 studio albums, earned three Grammy nominations, and was elected to the Country Music Hall of Fame in early 2024. Anderson was born John David Anderson in Apopka, Florida, on Dec. 13, 1954, and moved to Nashville after high school to pursue music. He signed with Warner Bros. Records in the late 1970s and achieved mainstream success with his 1982 album *Wild & Blue*, featuring the hit “Swingin’.” His 1990s comeback came with the album *Seminole Wind*, whose title track became a signature song.
