North Korea fired multiple short‑range ballistic missiles Wednesday, South Korea’s Joint Chiefs of Staff said, after detecting launches from south of Pyongyang. The missiles flew northeast 350 kilometers, the military said. Yonhap reported they were launched toward the East Sea off North Korea’s east coast. South Korea convened its national security council. Japan’s Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi said none entered Japan’s territorial waters and no damage was reported, adding Tokyo is coordinating with Seoul and Washington. The test, the first since President Lee Jae‑myung took office, comes ahead of a planned visit to South Korea by President Donald Trump.
