Trump unveils plans for monumental D.C. arch | JQJO

President Trump unveiled plans for a grand, classically styled arch for Washington, D.C., sharing renderings and models that echo the Arc de Triomphe and the Soldiers and Sailors' Memorial Arch. Asked who it would honor, he answered, "Me." At a White House fundraiser for a proposed $250 million ballroom addition, he displayed three models, favoring the largest, which appears to dwarf the Lincoln Memorial. The monument is being discussed for the nation's 250th anniversary. The U.S. Commission of Fine Arts, which is supposed to approve such designs, is closed due to the government shutdown.
