President Donald Trump hosted nearly 130 donors and corporate representatives at the White House, thanking them for pledges toward a $250 million ballroom he calls "phenomenal." Planned for the East Wing area, the 90,000-square-foot venue would feature bulletproof glass and, he said, hold up to 999 people. Guests in cocktail attire dined by tapered candles on beef Wellington and pear dessert. The project still lacks approvals from federal commissions; White House staff secretary Will Scharf said they aren't needed. Trump also unveiled models for a proposed arch on the Arlington Memorial Bridge.
