Multiple GOP congressional offices received American flags bearing an "optical illusion" swastika, two Republican sources told NBC News. One office discarded the flag after recognizing the symbol at its center. The GOP-led House Administration Committee and the U.S. Capitol Police are investigating; the USCP did not immediately comment. It remains unclear who distributed the flags or why. After the symbol appeared in the background of a meeting in a staffer's office, Ohio Rep. Dave Taylor called it "vile" and "deeply inappropriate" and said he condemns it "in the strongest terms."
