The European Commission will unveil a Defence Readiness Roadmap 2030 giving EU countries five years to prepare for war, with ministers to review it this week. The draft pushes 40% joint arms procurement by 2027 and majority sourcing from EU and Ukrainian firms by 2028–2030. It targets gaps from air and missile defense to drones and artillery, and backs three flagship projects: Eastern Flank Watch/Drone Wall, a European Air Shield, and a Defence Space Shield. Up to €800 billion could be mobilized. The plan stresses NATO coordination and national sovereignty amid mixed reactions from capitals.
