At least four members linked to a Young Republicans group chat—where participants fantasized about violence, praised Hitler and used racist slurs—have resigned from their jobs after Politico published the messages. The Young Republican National Federation called the language vile and demanded those involved step down from state and local posts. Participants Giunta and Walker apologized while alleging the chats were altered; Maligno and Hendrix did not comment to Politico. Vermont state Sen. Sam Douglass faces resignation calls, including from Gov. Phil Scott. On X, Vice President JD Vance dismissed the exchange as a “college group chat.”
