Broadview Protests Over ICE Arrests Roil Town | JQJO

Broadview, Illinois, has been rattled by weeks of protests outside an ICE facility, sparked by DHS’s Operation Midway Blitz ordered by President Donald Trump. State and federal officers have clashed with demonstrators, with tear gas, barricades and helicopters turning quiet blocks into a staging ground. Residents describe stinging eyes, school disruptions and anxious children, while the mayor, Katrina Thompson, imposed limited protest hours and later narrowed protest zones, blaming federal escalation. A Chicago judge restricted federal use of tear gas and pepper balls to serious threats. DHS and ICE did not comment.
