Flooding from the remnants of Tropical Storm Priscilla swept the Southwest on Saturday, forcing hundreds to evacuate in southwestern Colorado. Along Vallecito Creek, nearly 400 homes were ordered out as streams raged, trees washed downstream and bridges were hazardous, while crews stacked sandbags; Bayfield High School took in evacuees. Flood defenses were overtopped, with waters expected to crest Saturday night before more rain early week. At a nearby RV park, a manager described "hot tubs floating down the river." Southern Utah also saw road and basement flooding and a rescue of a person and dog; high-elevation snow is expected soon.
