At least 27 people have died and others are missing after torrential rains unleashed floods across Mexico, triggering landslides and washing away homes, vehicles and bridges. Rivers burst their banks on Thursday and Friday, with Hidalgo among the worst hit, reporting 16 deaths. Thousands of homes were damaged or destroyed as water roared through streets, blocking highways and cutting power. President Claudia Sheinbaum said 5,400 personnel were deployed for aid and road clearing. Puebla reported at least nine dead, five missing and 80,000 affected; two more died in Veracruz. A coffee shop owner said no one was prepared.
