Approximately 900 hikers and staff stranded by a snowstorm on the Chinese side of Mount Everest have been safely rescued. The severe storm on Saturday night cut off access at an altitude of over 16,000 feet. Some individuals experienced hypothermia and received medical aid. The scenic Everest area in Tibet has been temporarily closed. Separately, a storm on Mera Peak in Nepal resulted in a climber's death, and other areas in western China experienced snowstorms, causing fatalities and stranding motorists.
