Preseason frontrunners Texas and Penn State have been dropped from the AP Top 25 after surprising losses to unranked opponents. Ohio State maintains the No. 1 ranking, with Miami climbing to No. 2. The Ducks slip to No. 3, followed by a strong SEC contingent. This marks a rare occurrence for top-ranked teams to fall out of the rankings early in the season, with only seven previous instances since 1950.
