A supermoon will grace the night sky on Monday, appearing slightly larger and brighter. This is the first of three supermoons this year, occurring when the full moon is closest to Earth, making it appear up to 14% bigger and 30% brighter. While not a rare event, the difference can be subtle. This supermoon will be about 224,600 miles from Earth, with closer supermoons expected in November and December. Skywatchers worldwide can observe it with clear skies and no special equipment.
