The Yankees will start their playoff wild-card series against the Red Sox without key bats Ben Rice and Jazz Chisholm Jr. Manager Aaron Boone opted to stack right-handed hitters against lefty ace Garrett Crochet. Austin Wells will catch, and Paul Goldschmidt will play first base. Chisholm, despite a strong season, will come off the bench, with Amed Rosario at second and José Caballero at third, prioritizing offensive upside over defensive value in some positions.
