Des Moines Public Schools Superintendent Ian Roberts was detained by immigration agents Friday, accused of being in the U.S. illegally with existing weapon charges. The Department of Homeland Security stated Roberts fled from ICE officers and was found with a loaded handgun, cash, and a knife. The school district, however, highlighted his positive contributions. His arrest sparked a protest, and the school board is holding a special meeting to discuss his status.
