Guardians Tie Tigers Atop AL Central | JQJO

The Cleveland Guardians defeated the Detroit Tigers 5-2, tying them atop the American League Central. Gavin Williams pitched a strong game for Cleveland, striking out 12 batters. The Tigers, who led the division for much of the season, have lost seven straight games and 10 of their last 11, while the Guardians boast a 17-5 record this month. A hit-by-pitch incident involving Tigers' pitcher Tarik Skubal and Cleveland's David Fry added to Detroit's struggles. The Guardians now hold the tiebreaker should the teams finish with the same record.
