Newsom's Office Under Threat Probe | JQJO

California Gov. Gavin Newsom's press office is under investigation for a social media post perceived as a threat to Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem. The post, stating "Kristi Noem is going to have a bad day today," prompted US Attorney Bill Essayli to request a Secret Service threat assessment. Newsom's office later claimed the post referenced an immigration bill. The incident follows heightened security concerns for political figures after the killing of conservative activist Charlie Kirk, with criticism directed at both sides for inflammatory rhetoric. The Secret Service confirmed receipt of the Justice Department's communication and is investigating.
