Hurricane Helene, the deadliest to hit the US mainland since Katrina, ravaged homes in the Appalachian Mountains last September. John Saunby salvaged lumber from the debris, using it to build his dream home in Asheville, NC. He's incorporating unique materials like Black Locust bark and Wormy Chestnut, aided by his partner, musician Jenny Kimmel. A year after the hurricane, Saunby continues his project, imbuing his home with the spirit of resilience and the salvaged materials.
