Denmark Chooses European Air Defenses | JQJO

Denmark is prioritizing European-made air defense systems over the US Patriot system, citing faster delivery times and cost-effectiveness. This decision, part of a $9 billion defense investment, involves procuring the Franco-Italian SAMP/T for long-range defense and considering NASAMS, IRIS-T, and VL MICA for mid-range needs. The choice reflects a broader European trend toward continental defense solutions amid surging global demand for air defense systems driven by the war in Ukraine and concerns about Russia and China. Denmark aims for operational deployment as early as 2025.
