Americans 'Flag Jacking' Angers Canadians | JQJO

American tourists are increasingly posing as Canadians abroad to avoid anti-American sentiment, a phenomenon dubbed 'flag jacking'. This practice, fueled by negative perceptions of US foreign policy under the Trump administration, has angered Canadians who view it as disrespectful and a misuse of their national identity. While some Americans claim it's a harmless way to avoid negative reactions, Canadians see it as cultural appropriation and a burden on their country's generally positive international image. The trend has revived a practice from previous decades when similar anti-American sentiments arose.
