Times Square Casino Bid Rejected | JQJO

A proposal to build a casino in Times Square has been rejected by a community advisory committee. The plan, by SL Green Realty, Caesars Entertainment, and Roc Nation, involved converting a building housing the Minskoff Theatre into a casino, hotel, and entertainment complex. The proposal faced strong opposition from the Broadway League, citing concerns about negative impacts on the theatre industry and increased congestion. While some unions supported the project due to promised job opportunities, the committee's 2-4 vote against the plan effectively kills the project, at least for now.
