Android 16 Forces Themed App Icons | JQJO

Google's Android 16 QPR2 update introduces forced icon theming. Initially revealed in Beta 1, the update allows users to customize app icons with 'Default', 'Minimal', and 'Create' options. The 'Create' function is currently unavailable. 'Minimal' auto-tints icons lacking Material You support. To avoid legal issues, Google updated its Developer Distribution Agreement, requiring developers to allow users to modify app icon colors and themes starting September 15th for new accounts and October 15th for existing ones. This move, similar to Apple's iOS 18 approach, aims to standardize icon appearance across Android apps.
