Emmy Upsets: 'The Pitt' Triumphs | JQJO

The 77th Emmy Awards surprised many with unexpected wins. Despite numerous nominations, Apple TV+'s Severance lost Best Drama Series to HBO Max's The Pitt, attributed to viewer connection with The Pitt's characters and Noah Wyle's comeback. Apple TV+ still had a record-breaking night with 22 wins, largely due to The Studio's success in the comedy categories. Other upsets included Jeff Hiller's win for Somebody Somewhere and Netflix's Adolescence triumphing over HBO's The Penguin in the limited series categories. The awards highlighted the unpredictable nature of Emmy voting and the industry's self-referential tendencies.
