Following the assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk, a wave of misinformation flooded social media. False claims circulated about the suspect, Tyler Robinson, including his political affiliation, alleged membership in the Democratic Socialists of America, and the use of unrelated videos to falsely depict his escape. Other false claims involved misidentifying other individuals as the shooter and falsely claiming Democrats opposed a moment of prayer for Kirk in the House. Authorities eventually arrested and identified Robinson as the suspect.
