Following deadly anti-corruption protests in Nepal, interim Prime Minister Sushila Karki, the nation's first female leader, assumed office. A curfew and troop presence in Kathmandu have been reduced. The protests, largely driven by young people, led to the toppling of the previous government and the dissolution of parliament. Elections are scheduled for March 5th, following negotiations between the army, president, and protest leaders. The protests, initially sparked by a social media ban, also addressed broader economic concerns and resulted in at least 51 deaths.
