California GOP United Against Redistricting | JQJO

California Republicans, usually a divided group, united against Governor Newsom's Proposition 50, a ballot measure to redraw congressional districts. The proposition, costing Republicans potentially five House seats, has spurred over $40 million in campaign spending. The state GOP convention focused heavily on defeating Proposition 50, with gubernatorial candidates prioritizing this over traditional campaigning. Republicans hope to defeat the measure at the ballot box, employing various messaging strategies and voter outreach, rather than relying on court challenges.
