Indonesian leader fires ministers of finance and security after deadly protests

Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto announced a cabinet reshuffle Monday, replacing key economic and security ministers following deadly protests sparked by lawmakers' lavish perks. Five ministers were dismissed, including the respected Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati. The protests, resulting in at least seven deaths according to police, stemmed from public anger over economic hardship and perceived government insensitivity. Subianto revoked the controversial perks, but the cabinet changes and Indrawati's replacement have raised concerns among some economists about Indonesia's economic stability.
