Trump Threatens Portland Troop Deployment | JQJO

Donald Trump threatened to send National Guard troops to Portland, Oregon, based on misinformation from a news report that conflated recent small protests with large-scale 2020 demonstrations. Trump claimed to have seen video evidence of "city destruction," despite the current protests involving only dozens of people at an ICE facility. Portland Mayor Keith Wilson stated he hadn't requested federal intervention and that the city is managing the situation. Trump's claims were based on a Fox News report that incorrectly presented 2020 footage as recent, fueling his characterization of protesters as "paid terrorists." Oregon's attorney general threatened legal action if troops were deployed.
