Heart Attack Drug: Useless For Most? Find Out Now!

A major heart attack study, REBOOT, involving nearly 8,500 patients, reveals that beta-blockers, a common post-heart attack treatment, may be ineffective for most people. The trial, published in the New England Journal of Medicine, found no significant difference in outcomes (death, re-attack, hospitalization) between patients who received beta-blockers and those who didn't, especially in those with preserved heart function. Secondary findings suggest women with normal heart function might even face increased risks. While beta-blockers remain useful for severe heart attacks and other conditions, this research challenges their widespread use after typical heart attacks.
