Taylor Townsend, ranked 139th in singles, achieved a stunning upset victory over world No. 5 Mirra Andreeva at the US Open, advancing to the fourth round for the first time since 2019. Townsend's win comes after a controversial previous match where her opponent insulted her. Despite early nerves, Townsend's aggressive play and the enthusiastic home crowd propelled her to a 7-5, 6-2 victory. This win marks a significant comeback for Townsend, who faced previous setbacks including a denied wildcard entry and a lack of sponsorship. She now aims to build a lasting legacy in the sport.
