The FDA expanded its recall of potentially radioactive shrimp, adding Kroger and Walmart brands. Nearly 18,000 bags of Kroger shrimp and 26,460 packages of Walmart cocktail shrimp are affected due to possible Cesium-137 contamination from an Indonesian supplier. While no illnesses have been reported, long-term low-dose exposure can increase cancer risk. The FDA advises consumers not to eat the recalled shrimp and to dispose of it immediately. Recalled Kroger shrimp was sold in 17 states, and Walmart shrimp in 27 states. Specific UPC and lot codes are listed in the FDA's recall notice.
