Will Germany's New Military Draft Affect You? | JQJO

Germany's cabinet approved a new military service model focusing on bolstering reserve forces and active troops. The plan, spearheaded by Defense Minister Boris Pistorius, involves a mandatory survey for men aged 18 and above regarding their willingness to serve, while participation is voluntary for other genders. This initiative aims to strengthen national defense capabilities, particularly in light of the ongoing conflict in Ukraine and emerging cyber threats. The new model seeks to achieve these goals without altering the country's Basic Law.
