The Department of Justice (DOJ) has changed its rules for temporary immigration judges. Due to a shortage caused by over 100 judges leaving, the DOJ will now allow those without immigration law experience to fill the positions. This decision follows the controversial firing of many judges and amidst a massive backlog of over 3.7 million immigration cases. Critics argue the change is politically motivated.
