The New Orleans Saints have officially named Spencer Rattler their starting quarterback for the upcoming season. Coach Kellen Moore praised Rattler's consistency and ability to make plays. Tyler Shough will be the backup quarterback. Jake Haener was released from the team earlier in the day. Rattler, a fifth-round pick last year, beat out Shough, a second-round pick this year, in a close competition. Moore emphasized the importance of quarterback development and expects both Rattler and Shough to have successful careers with the team. The Saints open their season against the Cardinals on September 7th.
