Kilmar Abrego Garcia, wrongly deported to a harsh El Salvadorian prison, was released but faces deportation to Uganda within 72 hours. He had a 2019 order preventing his return to El Salvador due to gang violence. Despite this protection, ICE plans to deport him to Uganda. Abrego, reunited with his family after six months, also faces US charges of human smuggling, a trial for which his deportation might prevent his attendance. His lawyers are fighting his deportation.
