Is the SEC's 9-Game Schedule SHOCKING the Big Ten Into Submission? | JQJO

The SEC's decision to adopt a nine-game conference schedule is a significant move. This change, coupled with CFP adjustments to schedule strength metrics, puts pressure on the Big Ten, who previously argued against a nine-game schedule due to perceived disadvantages in playoff selection. The Big Ten commissioner's proposals for a vastly expanded playoff, seemingly driven by television interests, now seem less justifiable. The SEC's tougher schedule, including a mandated 10th Power Five non-conference game, strengthens their playoff position, leaving the Big Ten with little room to maneuver as a December 1 deadline for CFP changes looms.
