Nationals Designate Lowe for Assignment | JQJO

The Washington Nationals designated first baseman Nathaniel Lowe for assignment, opening a roster spot for Dylan Crews' return from the injured list. Lowe's performance significantly underwhelmed expectations since his acquisition from the Texas Rangers. His .216 batting average and high strikeout rate led to the decision. While the Nationals explored trades before the deadline, Lowe's slump and salary hindered any deals. He'll likely pass through waivers unclaimed, becoming a free agent. The Nationals will be responsible for the remaining portion of his contract.
