Israel Rejects Partial Deal, Demands Comprehensive Hostage Release

Mossad chief David Barnea's visit to Doha, initially described by some Israeli officials as aimed at reviving hostage and ceasefire negotiations, was later downplayed as routine Mossad business. However, Barnea reportedly conveyed Israel's refusal to consider another partial deal and its intent to conquer Gaza unless all hostages are released. While Egypt proposes a 60-day ceasefire based on a previous US proposal, Israel insists on a comprehensive deal including Hamas disarmament and Gaza demilitarization. Hamas, pressured by Turkey and Qatar, showed willingness to negotiate but without hostage release in its initial proposal. Israel's unwavering stance on a comprehensive deal, deemed unrealistic by some, hampered progress.
