Google and Valve will end support for the Steam beta on ChromeOS on January 1, 2026. Games installed through the beta will become unplayable after this date. The decision follows a beta program launched in early 2022, initially limited to high-spec Chromebooks. This marks the end of a Google initiative to enhance Chromebook gaming capabilities, which also included GeForce Now and Xbox Cloud Gaming integrations.
