A bull moose in New York's Adirondack Mountains, whose unusual behavior led to the closure of the Goodman Mountain hiking trail in June, was euthanized. Wildlife officials determined the moose, estimated to be four years old, was severely emaciated and suffering from an advanced disease. A necropsy will be conducted to determine the cause of death and inform future moose management. The trail remains temporarily closed while experts study the area.
