Shohei Ohtani returned from a cramp injury, pitching four strong innings with eight strikeouts and one earned run for the Dodgers against the Cardinals. He also hit his 39th home run, his 1000th MLB hit, giving the Dodgers an early lead. Despite Ohtani's impressive performance, the Dodgers bullpen faltered, allowing the Cardinals to rally for a 5-3 victory. Ohtani's start was part of a planned ramp-up following elbow surgery.
