Detroit City Council President Mary Sheffield will advance to the November mayoral general election, as projected by the AP. Sheffield, considered the frontrunner, secured a top-two finish in Tuesday's primary. Nine candidates competed for the seat vacated by Mayor Mike Duggan, who opted not to seek reelection and is instead running for Michigan governor. Sheffield will face the second-place finisher in the November election.
