Skip the Perseids this year; a bright moon will hinder viewing. Instead, catch the Southern Delta Aquariids and Alpha Capricornids meteor showers peaking July 29-30. These showers, while less famous, offer 20-30 meteors per hour under a less luminous moon. For optimal viewing, find dark skies after midnight, turn off electronic devices, and focus on the southern sky. While the Perseids may still offer some bright meteors, 2026 promises an exceptional display.
