Khanna Endorses Progressive Candidate Abughazaleh for Congress | JQJO

Rep. Ro Khanna endorsed Kat Abughazaleh, a 26-year-old progressive candidate running for Illinois' 9th Congressional District. Khanna praised Abughazaleh as the best the Democratic party offers, highlighting their shared commitment to working-class issues and rejection of corporate PAC money. Abughazaleh, a former journalist, has raised over $1 million in grassroots support since March. The endorsement follows their joint appearance at the Voters of Tomorrow Summit, where Khanna advocated for a renewed, progressive Democratic Party. Several candidates are vying for the seat in the March 2026 primary.
