Android's upcoming "Expanded" dark mode will force dark themes on apps lacking native support, improving accessibility. This new option, found in the Android Canary build, offers a more comprehensive dark theme than the standard mode, but may cause visual inconsistencies in some apps. Google positions this as an accessibility feature, acknowledging potential display issues. While currently in the Canary build, a stable release is anticipated around December with Android 16 QPR2.
